Shadowbox Presents NIGHTMARE AT THE SHADOWBOX, Opens 9/2

Summer's days are numbered, and Fall is creeping up fast. As the air gets crisp and the leaves change colors, the metaperformers of Shadowbox are ready to indulge in their darker, mischevious side with a brand new show, Nightmare at Shadowbox, opening September 2, 2010 at the sketch comedy and rock ‘n' roll club at the Easton Town Center.

Nightmare at Shadowbox promises all new, fiendishly fun sketch comedy and wickedly sultry rock ‘n' roll as Shadowbox proves once again that in dreams, anything is possible.

"Our fall shows have traditionally focused on Halloween themes," explains General Manager Katy Psenicka. "While Nightmare at Shadowbox will still carry a bit of that flavor, we wanted to branch out into new territory as well. A few Halloween monsters will make an appearance, but there are a handful of new sketches that focus entirely on dreams and nightmares."
In no particular order and subject to change, Nightmare at Shadowbox sketches will include:

A Casey Kasem Carol - A corrupt Casey Kasem is visited by the Ghosts of Rock ‘n' Roll past, present, and future. Can they convince Casey to save the future of rock ‘n' roll from the likes of boy bands and Lady Gaga?
Campfire Boys - Nightmares - Toby wants Edward to exorcise his nightmares by facing his fears like Jason, clowns and Spongebob Squarepants.
Creepy Old Job - Every neighborhood has an urban legend about a creepy old person who kidnaps kids and makes them into soup. Find out how you could land a job like that!

Date of the Dead - When two teenage couples go on a double date to a spooky old house, they wind up with more than they bargained for.

Doctor in the House - After being chased away from his castle by angry villagers, Dr. Frankenstein relocates . . . to Upper Arlington. Can he put aside his past and learn to fit in?

Dr. Phil vs. The Mummy - Dr. Phil's back and this time, he's out to help the Mummy with his "social problems."

Dream Team - Just where the heck do dreams come from anyway? And why don't they ever make any sense? Well, there's a whole team of people behind them, and it's their job to make sure the messages come across loud and . . . not-so clear.

The Werewolf Whisperer - Cesar Milan has graduated from Dog Whisperer to Monster Whisperer, and he's arrived at a small village just in time to save The Werewolf from an over zealous Van Helsing.

Vinnie's Dreamhouse - Hey! Yo! Everyone's favorite gangster is back with another episode of his popular kid's television show. This week's theme . . .dreams!

Songs will include:
Paperback Writer by The Beatles

Sunday Bloody Sunday by U2

Cult of Personality by Living Colour

Virtual Insanity by Jamiroquai

Hotel California by The Eagles

The Kill by 30 Seconds to Mars

Comfortably Numb by Pink Floyd

Uninvited by Alanis Morrisette

Blackbird by The Beatles

Nightmare at Shadowbox opens on Thursday, September 2nd at 7:30 PM, and runs Thursdays at 7:30 PM, and Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 PM and 10:30 PM through November 13, 2010. Tickets are $30 / $20 for students, seniors, and active military. For reservations contact the Shadowbox Box Office at 614-416-ROCK (7625) or go online to www.shadowboxcabaret.com.

Shadowbox is sponsored by Costume Specialists, Courtyard Marriott Columbus Airport location, Crawford Communities, Cup O Joe, Genesis Audio, Jack Fleming Photography, Outlook, The Team/Revolution, WCBE.

This Fall, Shadowbox turns tricks and treats into fright night with it's newest theme Nightmare at Shadowbox. Original sketch comedy and live rock 'n' roll will give you thrills, chills, and a glimpse into the dreamscape we call nightmares.

Shadowbox is a non-profit 501C3 performance troupe that self-produces a wide range of shows, as well as runs the company on a day-to-day basis. The top managers of the company make up the Board of Trustees and operate as the primary creators, producers, and performers for the shows.

For 20 years this creative force has produced world-class productions, including original rock operas, traditional musicals, fine art exhibits, contemporary dance, and video / television. An ensemble company of dedicated performers, Shadowbox is a healthy, vibrant, self-sustaining arts organization.
