In the two short years that Columbus native Dante Wehe has worked for Shadowbox Live, he has certainly made a name for himself as an immensely talented guitar player for the theater's house band, BillWho?. Recently, however, Wehe felt the desire to prove his prowess elsewhere as well and entered himself in a competition sponsored by Sam Ash music stores entitled the 2010 Best in Shred Guitar Competition. Anyone who has heard Shadowbox Live's young, curly-haired rocker play is well aware of how suited the young musician is for this type of contest and will suffer no surprise in hearing that he dominated all competition in his first round of performance and then the local finals with an original solo he composed specifically for the contest.

Wehe's next hurdle was the regional finals held in Chicago on Wednesday, December 8th where he competed against 41 other finalists from across the midwest. In true champion style, Shadowbox Live's youngest guitarist rose to the occasion with bravado and took home first place.

Wehe will now move on to the Championship round in Los Angeles where he will be competing to win not only the prestige of title, but also $20,000 worth of musical gear from Sam Ash and the opportunity to play live onstage with guitar legend Steve Vai in 2011. Shadowbox Live CEO and Executive Producer, Stev Guyer, has very high hopes for Wehe's chances. "He's one of the most naturally talented musicians I've ever heard," says Guyer, "I have no doubt he's going to blow Los Angeles out of the water." Guyer then added, with a smile, "I just hope he comes back afterward."

All of his friends and coworkers at Shadowbox Live wish him the best of luck with the added sentiment that he probably doesn't need much of it.

Shadowbox Live is sponsored by Costume Specialists, Courtyard Marriott Columbus Airport location, Crawford Communities, Cup O Joe, Dr. Robert Lowe, Family Physicians of Gahanna, Genesis Audio, Outlook, Professional Eye Care Associates, The Team, WCBE.

Shadowbox Live is the largest resident theater company in America, producing over 400 shows per year.
